2 Avlaki Beach Hydra Island Greece

Avlaki is probably one of the least favourite beaches on the island because it's at the bottom of a set of steps that would be better described as a ladder, a very long one at that. Mind you, this means that it's much quieter, so a good option if you're fit and looking for a bit of solitude. Remember to take water, food and everything else with you because there's no convenient shop, cafe or bar close by (the nearest bar is the Ydronetta and you have to walk back into town to get to the shops).

From the coast roadFrom the coast roadYou reach Avlaki from the coast road. Keep walking out of town as though you were heading for Kamini Harbour and after a couple of bends you'll come to a small building on the road side (it used to operate as the Cavos Disco but hasn't been open for a number of years now). The steps down are opposite this building.

Avlaki isn't suitable for young families because while you can first get into shallow water, it shelves quickly into very deep water.
