HydraDirect.com was founded in 2000 by Kelsey Edwards.

Originally it was created, managed, administered and all the content collected etc, by Kelsey using FrontPage.

After successfully running HydraDirect, the idea was expanded and SpetsesDirect.com was launched. Tracy Gionis took over as editor for HydraDirect and Lucy Paraskeva became editor for SpetsesDirect.

In an attempt to expand the idea of multiple islands being covered by sites each with their own editor using the same site format, Kelsey Edwards joined forces with ChilliDigital to develop more efficient sites using a content management system based on the open-source software known as Drupal.

While the operation of the sites and appearance worked very well, the idea of expansion failed.

Three years after, it became apparent that the new ownership and structure of the company which we named LITKO was not going to work and so the company was disolved.

In April 2010, Kelsey Edwards bought back HydraDirect.com and from now on will operate it along the lines she originally worked when it was created.

Chilli Digital, still exists as a company but no longer has any legal, financial or moral responsibility for HydraDirect.com.
