What a great day! The sun shone on the start of the parade which took a shorter route than usual cutting out the top of Kiaffa and Kala Pigadi so it returned to the port for the finale an hour earlier than previous years. At 2:30 the crowd in front of the Hydroussa Hotel was looking a bit thin on costumes but by 3:00 when the parade started numbers of costumes on display had increased to a respectable number. This year there were a lot more homemade original costumes that were really good and such an improvement on the same old ones that have been churned out each year.

2007 - The caique boat that had been built for this years Miaoulis celebration, ready to be filled with explosives unfortunately sunk that very same morning. With great efforts though and planning they used another caique boat at last minute warning. People on the caique held flames to improvise that it was on fire and other boats around them threw smoke bombs in to the water. The effects were really quite amazing.
