8 Limnioniza Beach on Hydra Island Greece

Limnioniza beach is on the south side of Hydra island. It takes about 30 minutes to reach it by sea in one of the large speed boats operated by the people who run the beach. Or alternatively you can walk from Hydra town going straight over the top of the island passing through the little semi-deserted village of Episkopi on the way.

Limnioniza is one of those classic Greek islands pebblely coves is amazingly clear water. The beach is clean and well maintained with some umbrellas and sunbeds to rent.

Little island guarding the bayLittle island guarding the bayYou will find water sports on Limnioniza to enjoy such as kayaks and some good snorkelling. For the more energetic there is water-skiing and tube rides available. The little island that guards the entrance to the bay makes an excellent destination to aim for in a kayak!

At the back of the beach there is a little cafe selling simple refreshments.

Back of beachBack of beachThe boats run back and forth on the hour and half hour from 11:00 until 15:00 each day in high season from Hydra harbour opposite the clock tower.

Please note that mobile phones do not get a signal on this beach.

The beach is relatively safe for young children because it shelves gently into the sea.

This is a great beach if you want to make a day of it. Take your picnic, bring your ipod and don't forget a pair of shoes that you can walk in so you can explore the hill behind the beach. You'll get wonderful views of inland Hydra from the top. And those who like collecting pebbles will love the pretty green ones that are abundant on this beach.
