As I am not an artist I have to rely upon the words of the many artists, who live and work on Hydra and variously say that this island really is an artists' paradise!

Inspirational, good light, texture, brilliance of colour, clarity, bold geometric shapes, sharp contrasts, dramatic landscapes, peace and quiet that's conducive to creative contemplation, are all phrases that I hear mentioned on a regular basis.

If what they mean is that the character and charm of Hydra tempts even a complete novice, who's never attempted to paint, to pick up a brush to try and capture a scene on paper - I couldn't agree more.  No art critic in the making, I'm afraid!

However I appreciate the work of our artists and enjoy being able to share some of their work with you on our Artist's Gallery. Perhaps we can induce some of you to visit the island for a painting holiday?
