9th-11th June - Everyone is invited to a book exhibition that will be held at the 2nd Primary school in Kamini. Hours for visiting are morning: 10.00 – 12.00 and evening: 18.00 – 20.00. The exhibition will finish with the end of term school play that will take place on 11th June at 19.00.

 First international meeting of improvised music in the Historical Museum of Hydra.   From 13th-15th June 2008. Renowned musicians from different countries and from Greece will meet in on Hydra Island for three days of concerts in the old mansion of the Historical Museum of Hydra. 21st June – Everyone is welcome to gather up by the Miaoulis statue (also known as the castle of Cavos) for the celebration of ‘International Music day’. Starts 21.00

The opening of an art exhibition will be held at the art school in which the children of Hydra have been attending classes throughout the year. The theme is ‘MIAOULIS 2008’. Starts 20.00, everyone welcome.

A music performance will take place up by the Miaoulis statue on the east side of the harbour. Starts 21.00

24th June – Everyone invited to come and join in at the football stadium of Hydra at 21.00. Here they will burn all of the 1st of May wreaths collected from the all of the buildings in Hydra. A tradition that they used to do in previous years on Hydra and will again capture the same spirit especially for the younger generation of the island. If any parents are able to bring some snacks, cakes or refreshments, it will be much appreciated so as to have a really enjoyable night for everyone. Looking forward to seeing lots of faces there!Organised by the 1st and 2nd primary school

June 26th – Street Race from Mandraki to Hydra port. Starts 09.00.

26th June – Boxe savate competition can be seen in the port. Starts 20.00, everyone welcome to watch.

The Hydra Music Committee will be performing at the canons by Sunset restaurant. Starts 21.00.

27th June – A show performed by all the students in the ballet and modern dance department. As it’s the girls first year of learning ballet and dance, it will be lovely to see their show. Taking place in the harbour, everyone welcome. Starts 20.00

27th June – The women’s choir of Hydra will be performing at the Melina Mercouri Hall. Starts 21.30

Biggest display of fireworks held in this part of Greece as part of the re-enactment of the defeat of the Turkish Fleet by Hydra's Admiral Miaoulis. Hosted by the Municipality of Hydra. Free of charge. Come early to find the best vantage points. One of the busiest weekends in Hydra's Calendar, so book accommodation and dolphin tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Directly after the Miaoulis firework display - music, singing and dancing can be enjoyed with the popular Greek singer, Petros Guytano. Starts 22.30 and will be held in the port for everyone to join in! See you there!

The flags will be raised by the statue of Miaoulis

29th June – The merchant marines of Hydra in honour of Miaoulis will throw a reef into the sea, the canons will then be fired and the National Greek anthem will be sung. This will take place at 12.00.

The flags will be lowered by the Miaoulis statue

A lively programme of Greek dancing by the children who attend classes throughout the year with teacher George Golebis. The lessons are organised by Y.N.O. Everyone invited. Starts 20.30 in the harbour.

29th June - Music entertainment and traditional dancing in the port. Starts 22.00

1st July is a celebration for those persons who are named Anargiros and Damianos. Most name days are celebrated in their own homes or in restaurants where eating, drinking and lots of dancing takes place! Happy Name Day
