Hospitals
Telephone for hospital and ambulance: +(30) 22980 53150 or 53151. The hospital of Hydra Island Greece is a cottage hospital that doesn't have an accident and emergency department. Having said that there are accidents and so the hospital does deal with them. The hospital is funded by the church who pay for the upkeep of the building etc. There are x-ray facilities so broken bones etc, can be identified and then stablised before the patient is taken off the island to one of the larger hospitals on the mainland.
Walking wounded should make their own way to the hospital for treatment whenever possible.
Out hours emergencies or non-walking wounded, phone the hospital first and if necessary a doctor will be sent to you or arrangements for you to meet in the hospital will be made. Alternatively if possible the ambulance will be sent for you.
For residents, there are specialist services provided with doctors coming from the mainland on Saturdays.
