Riding Safety

Harriet's Hydra Horses, Horse treks in Hydra Island Greece, horse trekking in Hydra, horse riding in Greece, Hydra horse treks. Melina & Chloe

Your safety is our concern:

  • Safety Helmets
  • Modern up-to-date equipment
  • Specialist child stirrups
  • First aid kit carried
  • Certified First Aider
  • Rider registration
  • Rider ability assessment
  • Treks matched to experince

Riding at any standard has inherent risk that you may fall off and could be injured. Please note that by using my service you accept that risk and agree that Harriet’s Hydra Horses will not be liable for injury or damage to property.

I therefore recommend that you ensure that you have adequate medical cover with your travel insurance. I also reserve the right to refuse accepting a booking if in my opinion the rider would be putting themselves, others or my horses at risk due to physical disability, behavioural or attitude issues, or appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Do's and Don'ts

  • Do bring a small rucksack with water and snacks for longer treks.
  • Do wear sunblock because even in Spring and Autumn you can burn easily.
  • Do wear longer shorts or leggings even in the Summer so you don't get sore legs from chaffing on the saddle.
  • Do spray yourself with mosquito repellant as a precaution.
  • You won't need a sun hat or cap because you will be wearing a safety helmet!

  • Do not wear flipflops or strappy sandles (it is not safe footwear for riding and you may have to dismount and walk in places).
  • Don't forget your camera!

Weight Restriction

My horses are sturdy, however there is a limit to the amount of weight they can take both for their own health and the safety of the rider especially when trekking up steep inclines. Therefore I cannot book for anyone weighing more than 100 kilos for longer mountain treks and reserve the right to refuse a trek. (100 Kilos, 220 Pounds, 15.5 Stone.)

Rider Registration

Below you will find a copy of my Rider Registration form, which I ask you to read and acknowledge when you book a trek. It is a two page document so you will need to use the controls provided to see it all. If 16 or under I will only accept a booking from an appropriate adult who accepts responsibility for the care and conduct of their charge.

SORRY, the embedded PDF registration form DOES NOT display if you are using an ipad and is beyond our control! You are kindly asked to view it on a desktop or laptop. I can email you a copy of it upon request.
