Ecclesiastical Museum of the Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Hydra Island, Greece

 

You'll find the Ecclesiastial Museum within the cloisters of Hydra's Cathedral in the centre of the port. It's a small museum that houses the church artifacts and regalia much of which is used during services and the church celebrations thoughout the year.

ΤΟ ΕΚΚΛΗΣΙΑΣΤΙΚΟ ΜΟΥΣΕΙΟ «ΑΓΙΟΣ ΜΑΚΑΡΙΟΣ ΝΟΤΑΡΑΣ»

 

Το Εκκλησιαστικό Μουσείο «Άγιος Μακάριος Νοταράς» στεγάζεται στην δυτική πλευρά του μοναστηριακού συγκροτήματος και λειτουργεί από το 1999.  Φυλάσσονται σε ειδικές προθήκες όλα τα κειμήλια του μοναστηριού ήτοι ιερές εικόνες, άμφια, ιερά σκεύη, μουσικά χειρόγραφα, τούρκικα φιρμάνια, κ.α.

 

Υπάρχουν και κειμήλια από ιδιώτες όπωςφορητέςεικόνεςτουΑρχιμ. π. Αθανασίου Κουλούρα, προσωπικά αρχιερατικά αντικείμενα του μακαριστού ΜητροπολίτουΎδρας κυρού ΠΡΟΚΟΠΙΟΥ τουΚαραμάνου, τα οποία προσέφεραν οιανηψιέςτου κ. Ελευθερία Σούλια και Μαρία Κουρουσοπούλου, προσωπικά αντικείμενα του μακαριστού Υδραίου Ιεράρχου, Μητροπολίτη Παροναξίας κυρού ΕΠΙΦΑΝΙΟΥ, δωρεάτουανηψιούτου Γεωργίου Ε. Καλαφάτη, ως περίτεχνος Σταυρόςευλογίας, δωρεάΆννας Δημ. Πέρκιζα.

 

Τα εγκαίνια τουΜουσείουτελέσθηκαν επισήμωςστις 15-8-2005 υπό του Μακαριωτάτου Αρχιεπισκόπου Αθηνώνκ.κ. ΧΡΙΣΤΟΔΟΥΛΟΥ.

 

Τα Μουσείολειτουργεί  από 1η Απριλίουέως 30 Οκτωβρίου καθημερινάεκτός Δευτέρας από τις 10π.μ. έως 2.00 μ.μ.

 

Πρόεδροςτου Δ.Σ. είναι ο Σεβ. Ποιμενάρχης μας κ.κ. Εφραίμ και Διευθυντής ο Γ.Α.Ε. π. ΑκίνδυνοςΔαρδανός.  Κατ’ έτοςτο επισκέπτονται περίπου 5.500 άτομα.

The Ecclesiastical Museum "SAINT MAKARIOS NOTARAS"

 

The Ecclesiastical Museum "Macarios Notaras' located on the west side of the monastery  and operated since 1999.  Kept in special showcases all the relics of the monastery which are Holy Icons, vestments, Holy vessels, musical manuscripts, Turkish firman, silver Gospels etc.


There are relics from individuals as icons of Archimandrite. p. Athanasiou Kouloura personally sacerdotal objects of  Bishop of Hydra kyrou PROKOPIOU Karamanou, which provided from his  nieces ka. Elefreria Soylia and Maria Kourousopoulou, personal belongings of the Hierarch from Hydra, Bishop of Paronaxia kyrou EPIFANIOU, donated by his nephew Georgiou E. Kalafati,  elaborate Cross Blessing donation by Anna Perkiza.

 

The opening of the museum officially committed on 15.08.2005 by the Archbishop of Athens k.k.XRISTODOULOU.
The Museum is open from 1 April to 30 October daily except Mondays, from 10am to 2.00 pm.

 

Chairman of the Board are our Respect  Poimenarxis k.k. Ephraim and Director of the G.A.E. p. Akindynos Dardanos. Every year visited by about 5500 people.

 

While you are already within the confines of the Monastery, you are welcome, so long as you are wearing respectful clothing, to visit the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Monastery) which is truly stunning.
