There is no disturbance from the school (as it was decommissioned some years ago), it's simply used as a landmark in this description only. Approx 15 minute walk from the harbour. 5 minutes from the Four Corners supermarket which is happy to make weekly deliveries to the house. Gentile residential area. As with most houses that are not situated in the actual port, the stairs will cause those with disabilities some concern but for people with average fitness levels the walk to the house is not difficult.

The entrance hall is very spacious and can be used to provide extra sleeping space if you have guests. The ceiling is of traditional reed and beams and the floor of newly laid, beautiful (very striking) black and white Brazilian tiles.

To the end of the entrance hall you have stairs to the upper level, a door giving access to a large storage space that is shelved and access to the lower terrace.

Lower Terrace & Plunge Pool - The lower terrace can be accessed from the entrance hall or by steps from the upper terrace. The plunge pool was originally the freshwater cisterna converted to provide a place for a refreshing dip. It has steps to one end, underwater lighting and all the required access for chemical maintenance conveniently located in the outside wall. The Lower Terrace is medium sized and provides ample space for outdoor furniture to comfortably accommodate a pool party.

Alongside the BBQ there's a 'handy for serving' low, bench table built into the wall. An outdoor tap (under the BBQ) is convenient for plant watering. This terrace gets sun on it from mid-day onwards until about 7:00pm when the sun sets behind the hill to the left of the port as you're looking out. Views down to the port are partly restricted by the roof of the house in front, however this does not detract from the charm of the terrace as it is not overlooked and particularly private. To the side of the terrace is a pretty staircase leading to the upper terrace. Beneath this staircase there's a good sized store room with a stout and attractive looking bamboo door.

The views are spectacular. This terrace is larger than the lower and catches the sun earlier in the day and because of its height, the sunsets are longer lasting. Paved with black and white tiles in a chequered formation. A sturdy wall with balustrade surrounds the terrace with built in stone seating to one side. Another outside tap at the top of the outside stairs makes watering pot plants on the upper terrace easy.

Utilities - The house has oil fired radiator heating throughout and air-conditioning in the bedrooms. There are ceiling fans in the other rooms. The entire property is supplied with water by the municipality and the property is connected to mains sewage.

General Impressions - I was originally introduced to this house by the previous owners at the end of January 2002. At that time, the house had been shut up for quite a while, so I was very surprised and impressed to find that the property was in tip-top condition when I entered with the then owner. There was no fusty, damp smell, no puddles of water anywhere and all the doors, windows and shutters opened without so much as a squeak. The then owner (one of the island's professional builders who has since retired) and his wife included every convenience when they built the property. All the doors leading to the terraces and all the windows are fitted with fly-screens.  Every window has internal wooden shutters. All electric sockets are good-quality, mostly double, well fitted and found in great abundance throughout. Light switches are logically positioned and are two way as appropriate (for example at the top and bottom of the inner stairwell).

The current owner has maintained the excellent standard of the property, recently having the exterior repainted, and has added air-conditioning, new flooring and revamped shower rooms. He has also added a painted wooden frame with canvas awning to the upper terrace to shade it from the mid-day heat (which in turn helps to keep the saloni cooler in the height of summer). Decoratively the entire property is in excellent order, no chipped or pealing paintwork in this house!

So potential buyer's with young children will find the property quite convenient.

When the current owner is "not at home" the property is rented out especially during the off-peak season and enjoys a rent of approximately 300 Euros per night depending on the length of stay, time of year and number of people.
