Opened in 2016, the Orea Ydra is a welcome addition to the HydraDirect restaurant guide because it offers top quality, freshly produced Greek cuisine at its very best. Within the first year, the Orea Ydra deservedly established itself as one of the gastronomic destinations on Hydra.
The Orea Ydra restaurant is the brainchild of Antigone Vamvaka a entrepreneurial business woman and long-term friend of Hydra. Together with her childhood friend, Mamina Psomara, confectioner Arstotelis Rapti and talented head chef Kosmas Savriadi they have risen to the challenge of raising the standard of cuisine and its presentation on Hydra.
The chef of Orea Ydra is Kosmas Savriadis. Born in Patras, with years of experience in the hotel chain Grecotel, he is a modest and down to earth young man with a vast enthusiasm for cooking. He has a passion for pure flavours, fresh raw materials and has contacts all over Greece to supply the kitchen with fresh produce, such as drosoulites, saltiness, tsitsiravla, mullet and shrimp from the opposite Peloponnese mainland.
Even though the Orea Ydra is primarily a seafood restaurant, they do have a couple of meat dishes on the menu. And for vegetarians there is an extensive range of beautifully presented dishes to tempt you. Added to the standard menu, there are also the dishes of the day which depend on seasonal produce and availability.
However transliterated into English, the Η Ωραία Ύδρα (Oraia or Orea) offers a combination of 'great' modern Greek gastronomy with flavours of the sea, in an explosion of tastes guaranteed to excite you! The restaurant’s menu will tempt you with dishes such as kakavia (fish chowder), stonefish or the smoked Artan eel salad or fresh oysters (their specialty). Also highly recommended is the mastelo cheese paneed in almond and served with tomato-jam.
Whether you want to sit at the tables on the waterfront, to immerse yourself in the rhythm of the harbour's theatre or you manage to book one of the three privileged tables for two on the balcony overlooking the harbour, or you want the intimacy of sitting inside the restaurant, you will be treated to cuisine from a restaurant plays an important role in the gastronomy of Hydra.

The Orea Ydra is open full time from April - October.
Lunch: From 11:30 - 16:00
Dinner: From 18:00 - late.
During the off-season the restaurant is not open full time so please enquire.
The Orea Ydra is available with advanced warning for outside catering or to host events and dinner parties.
