Hydradirect Guide to Hydra

My personally-curated take on Hydra's unique blend of international glamour and laid back Greek Island tranquillity.

I'm not a travel agent for the island so this isn't a definitive guide. It's my database of useful information that features everything I love about Hydra that I use for my 'real job' as a personal consultant and well-established real estate expert.

I personally keep the information as up-to-date as humanly possible so that every feature you see - whether it's a landmark, holiday home, activity, building trade or property professional -  is what you get.

It's a trustworthy, reliable resource for visitors, islanders, Hydra businesses, home owners and of course anyone who is thinking of buying property on this glorious island to use free of charge.

Created by 1 person - Shared with everyone!

Enjoy - regards Kelsey

  • What to Expect

About Hydra: The architecture looks the same as it did in the 1800s, there are no cars, bicycles or mopeds, just lots of mules, sea taxis, and plenty of walking. But Hydra is no Disneyland attraction. Get an idea of the different areas and a better sense of Hydra's proud personality in this section.

By passenger catamaran from Piraeus or by car via Metochi or Ermioni, then local ferry boats to Hydra.  There's no airport on the island, but you can fly by helicopter to the Kivotos islet and then a 3-minute sea taxi to Hydra. Or you can come on a private yacht or cruiser hire from the mainland.

HAVING FUN ON HYDRA

One of the up sides to Hydra's no wheels policy, is you meet lots of other  people walking, so the island is very sociable. Simply sitting in Hydra harbour at one of the cafes with your morning coffee, especially on delivery days (Wednesdays & Saturdays) is entertaining street-theatre. But for those want to be out and about there's lots to do. Foodies will enjoy trying out the wide range of different restaurants. As for shopaholics, there really is something for everyone.
