Vlychos Plakes Beach - beaches on Hydra Island Greece.

Plakes beach is a long, partially operated beach of sand and pebbles that has a wide view of the sea. It shelves gently from the shore into shallow water and is therefore very suitable to families with younger children.

Plakes beach is about 500m further along from the main Vlychos beach going west on a rugged but wide and in good condition road that follows the coastline. So it can be reached on foot if you like a 1.5km walk from Hydra Harbour and to reward yourself at the end of your walk with a cooling dip in the beautiful clear waters off Plakes.

There is a regular beach boat service from Hydra Harbour if you prefer to go by sea.

You can also catch a sea taxi to Plakes or it is one of the trek destinations of Harriet's Hydra Horses.

There are sunbeds and umbrellas available to rent and the beach is long enough to have areas at either end which are left untended so you are welcome to bring a rug and lie on the beach if you prefer.

There is a restaurant is available for snacks and refreshments.
