The recording studio and residence are housed in an old carpet factory from the 18th century with a sweeping view of the island.
It offers an unparalleled creative retreat for artists to immerse themselves across all stages of any project – from initial conception through writing, rehearsing and recording to mixing and mastering. From an independent acoustic folk or hard rock recording to classical, jazz or spoken word.
Artists are free to capture that special sound across the unique range of acoustics – from the brightness of the double-height ceilings with 300-year old latticed wooden paneling, to the custom reverb chamber set up in the ancient underground cistern carved out of the rock in the mountain.

The vibe of the place is an inspiration in itself. And it’s just a few minutes walk down to the sea.
The studio is set up with a calibrated hybrid system of collector-grade analogue and vintage gear combined with high-end mastering-level digital technology, more than ten thousand plug-ins and the latest software versions to deliver an effortless work-flow for any production.
We work exclusively with the personal sound engineer of Eric Burdon and The Animals, who counts over thirty years of international experience monitoring stadium-scale concerts, mixing demos and mastering best-selling albums.

The gear list includes Neve 5060 consoles, Chandler TG2 500 Abbey Road preamps, API 525s in exact re-issue of the early 1970s original, a late 1970s Fender Super Reverb Amp and a mid 1960s Dynacord Eminent Amp with Magic Eye.
Instruments include vintage Fender Jazz and Rickenbacker 4003S basses, a pro-restored mint-condition 1970s Ludwig Black Panther Hollywood Outfit drum kit and a selection of electric and acoustic guitars.
And there’s a unique one-off semi-hollow body electric guitar in a special custom commission for the studio by the luthier of Prince. It is hand-crafted from a single slab of 400-year old master-grade flamed maple.
We are enthusiastic about retro synths and custom pedal effects. Our inventory includes the Moog Sub 37, Korg SV1 Stage Piano, Moog Etherwave Theremin, Korg Kaossilator Pro Plus Dynamic and Markbass Super Synth Effect Stomp-box as well as a large assortment of Jam Pedals.
A choice selection of vintage synthesizers and full modular systems are also available upon request from our depot in Athens.
There is a cabinet stocked with instruments and artefacts from around the world like an electric saz, Yaqui cajon, Turkish ney, Tibetan prayer cymbals and hand-made Anatolian tzouras and baglama.
The acoustics configuration has been designed in collaboration with acoustics expert Prof. Dr. Gottfried Schubert who is the gentleman behind the design of a number of important concert-grade venues across Europe – from historic opera houses to some serious underground jazz bars. We can set up and record simultaneously in just about any part of the property.
It is easy to spend a week at the Old Carpet Factory without ever leaving the property.
The original 18th-century architecture has been preserved throughout the house. The property was converted into a residence in the 1960s by American sculptor John La Farge and later became the studio of painter Demetri Gassoumis.
There are three double bedrooms and a master-suite in the attic loft, each with a private bathroom, comfortably sleeping up to eight people at a time with the added possibility of expanding to twelve.
The house has a prime central location overlooking the bay, which is just a few minutes walk away.
In less than half an hour you can walk to one of the old monasteries up on the hill, ride a horse into the secluded mountains or take a dip at one of the remote coves and beaches.
As there are no cars or motorcycles on the island, local transportation is by donkey, mule and speed-boat taxi.
