Stamatis Papaleonardos, a wealthy merchant from Aegina, built this house on this hill of Episkopi, which seems to have been part of his wife's Asimina Harami's dowry. They had 5 children, Mitsos, Giagkos, Nitsa, Kiki and Ekaterini.
Ekaterini Papaleonardou (1900 - 1986) married three times, Vatti, Mantzini & Paouri. She was reputed to be a beauty of the times, who developed a formidable personality; modern, social and open-minded, she entertained in her mansion in the port of Hydra countless elebrities, intellectuals, actresses, painters, shipping magnates & politicians, etc.
Kiki Papaleonardou (1882 - 1940) married tobacco industrialist Sortirios Papastratos who built the lower house on the estate in 1935 with the well-know architact Kyrianos Biris.
The 3.6 hectare estate consiss of numerous other structures, a third residence, gardener's quarters, two-storey stables, laundry rooms, outdoor ovens, chicken coops and various storage and utility rooms.
The extended family spent their summers and other holidays here in considerable comfort and luxury using the estate as a country house from early 1900's to the mid 1960's.
