Full Description

Dolphin House is a private Hydra house that is available as a holiday rental with 3 bedrooms (2 double ensuite bedrooms and a third, twin bedroom off the master suite with single beds). This house to rent is a gentle walk through the town from Hydra harbour with a relatively short flight of easy steps to climb to the house from the main approach street. It is an architecturally unique building on Hydra and has a nice swimming pool and spectacular views. The owners have timed the walk as ten minutes from the house to the disembarkation area of the port.

The theme of multiple levels that flow from one to another with steps is seen outside as well as inside. The house was deliberately designed as such to afford as many different views from the house as possible. Every seating area or window frames a picture. The interior layout is playful like the dolphin the house is named for. It's a large space that offers a choice of sitting areas depending on the time of day and what you want to do. In addition to the double-height of the lofty living space, the positioning of the windows takes advantage of the light summer breezes, which combined with the thick stone walls, keep the interior temperatures down so you don't need to use the air-conditioning if you prefer not to.

Dolphin House is very much a family home which is owned by a French couple who have an art gallery in Paris. Over the years, the family have adorned the house with an eclectic collection of ornaments, painting and furniture which you will enjoy but obviously, you are asked to take care of.

As a home, rather than a purpose made holiday rental, you will enjoy all the comforts of this well-appointed house so you will instantly feel 'at home' in it. With plenty of outside cushions and tableware so you can really immerse yourselves in summer living on the beautiful island of Hydra.

The master bedroom suite is on the ground floor and comprises a large double bedroom, a twin room with a single bed (please note that a 2nd single bed is available) and a bathroom. Both the bedroom and twin room have private access to a south-west facing terrace with pretty views of the zig-zag path up to the Ag. Fotini Monastery (a good walking destination). The master bedroom offers terrific views from all windows. This is a great suite for a family with up to two children to share with their parents.

The 3rd bedroom is completely separate from the rest of the building and so is very private. This makes Dolphin House ideal for two couples to share. The entrance is right next to the street door. There's plenty of space with a desk with coffee making facilities. There is a large ensuite shower room.

Out of doors, you will enjoy spending time on the roof terrace off the upper floor. The day and evening views overlooking the town will take your breath away!

Obviously having a swimming pool is a big plus! It is next to the large entrance terrace which is very private and is gently shaded from the mid-day sun by a huge bougainvillea. Please note that the pool has no shallow end so parents are asked to take particular care of children. There are lights in the pool and steps to get in and out.
