Bisti Beach - beaches on Hydra Island Greece.

Bisti Beach is set at the back of a sheltered bay and offers a gently sloping, pebble beach into shallow water that you have to walk out some way before it reaches waist depth for most adults. Therefore I personally think of this as a family friendly beach.

The back of the beach as you will see from the photos is lined with shady pine trees and you are welcome to drag your sunbed further back if you find the heat of the sun and the glare off the water a bit too much.

The beach boats pull in to one side and you can walk along the beach passing the sunbeds and umbrellas to the other end (about 200m) if you prefer to be more alone.

The far end of the beach has lots of pools and the shallow water making it a favourite place for people to look for interesting sea-urchins, starfish and tiny crabs.

Even when you go quite a way out into the bay, it isn't that deep and so it's a fantastic place to go snorkelling.

Getting to Bisti Beach

The Bisti beach boat makes regular runs throughout the day with more sailings during the summer as the days are longer.

You will find the beach boat moored off the Hydra Harbour wall opposite the Cathedral Clock Tower. The times for the sailings to and from Bisti Beach, along with the ticket prices are shown on boards at the back of the boat.

You simply need to arrive at the time you want to leave, get on board and pay the crew member. Don't forget to keep your receipt safe so you have it on the return journey. On the return trip, the boat leaves from the same place as it drops you off, to the side of the beach as you can see in the photo above.

The trip takes about 20 minutes from Hydra harbour to Bisti and is a great way to get a view of Hydra's northern coastline and the tiny islets that you pass along the way to the western end of Hydra.
