Bouagia Studio Apartment for sale on Hydra Island Greece, is one of three properties in the recently built 'Bouagia Alpha Complex' (2002) located to the east side of the amphitheatre that surrounds Hydra Harbour. In spite of its elevated position, which affords truly magnificent views, the property can be reached with only 97 steps from the side of the football field in Hydra Town. This Hydra real estate consists:

Bouagia Studio Apartment

From the street gate, there are communal steps along the back of the building passing the Bouagia House' shady terrace and at the end of the short path you will find the fenced terrace of the Studio Apartment. This fenced terrace catches the early morning sunrise but is in the shade by mid day. It is also one of the best places on Hydra to photograph the moon as it appears over the craggy, south-east mountain line behind the property, especially when it is a full moon.

The Studio Apartment is on the top floor of the building. From the fenced terrace, the front door opens to a short flight of stairs. There is a door bell and light over the front door. The stair treads are comfortably deep and laid with ceramic tiles. The stairs have good lighting and the ceiling is painted wood. At the top of the stairs there is a window that overlooks the fenced terrace and the mountains behind the property.

From the top of the stairs a door opens to a small corridor into the main Studio room. One wall is fitted with two double wardrobes with cupboards over which are built-in from floor to ceiling. Plenty of space for clothing and items such as bed linen/towels, etc!

The main room of the Studio Apartment features:

  • Various Kitchen base cabinets and wall cabinets to the kitchen 'corner.
  • Bathroom on the centre, back wall, fitted with a full size bath with shower over, hand basin, toilet, extractor fan, mirror and light.
  • Double, glass doors to Juliet Balcony with a window either side of the door.
  • Air-conditioning for heat and cooling.
  • Ceramic floor tiles.
  • Painted wood ceiling.
  • Panoramic views from all windows and the balcony.
  • Multiple, well placed electric sockets.
  • Wiring & Socket for internet communication.
  • Aerial socket.

From the communal street entrance & path to the Private Fenced Terrace at the back of the property.

Wide Juliet Balcony.

The Juliet Balcony is west facing and catches the afternoon sun. It is a perfect place to look at the view of Hydra Town, the countryside, parts of the harbour and of course to watch Hydra's glorious sunsets. In the distance, you can see all the way down the Kamini to Vlychos Valley. On a clear day you can see the neighbouring island of Spetses in the far distance.

The private fenced terrace allows views of the mountains that rear up behind the property. While this terrace is in the shade during the day, artists adore the light as it catches the mountain sides during the early evening, turning the colour to bright golden hues. Looking east from the fenced terrace or from the window opposite the wardrobes, provides a view of the eastern mountain ridge where you will see not just the sun rise but also the moon rise of course! A full moon rising is quite spectacular and photographers will want to have their tripods at the ready.

The studio is supplied for electricity, water and sewage disposal by the main town system. Whilst not connected, lines for telecommunication and internet have been run up to the neighbouring building and so won't be difficult to get connected.
Good to know: All windows and doors have internal shutters.

From the harbour turn up Tombasis Street on the corner of the Alpha Bank. At the Amalour go straight between the hardware shop and Amalour. At the top of this narrow street follow the sharp right bend and then immediate left. After 20 meters turn left and walk passed the entrance to the football field, which will be on your right. At the corner of the football field, go straight up passing a well head on your left and the left side of the triangular area of pine trees with a children's playground. At the back of the playground, turn right and then follow the level road to the next junction where there is a refuse collection point. Turn left here, up a few steps, then take the right fork. From here on you just need to follow the twists and turns through this pretty residential area (about another 50 meters). When you get to the top you turn right and walk to the end of the wide concrete upper road, (countryside and ruins on your left, other properties on your right). You will find the Bouagia Complex on your right a the top end of this road where one of the hiking routes start. This is an easy-to-negotiate route by Hydra standards with lots of level stretches to intersperse the steps. There are only 97 steps and it will take an averagely fit person 10 minutes to walk.
