The Christos passenger ferry is a wonderful service connecting Hydra Island with the Peloponnese mainland at the seaside village of Ermioni. The ferry operates out of Hydra Harbour with at least 4 sailings every day of the year, except Christmas Day. (Subject to weather and occasional downtime for maintenance or repairs.)

Hydra - Ermioni
You don't have to reserve or pre-book your tickets if you are departing from Hydra going to Ermioni. Just turn up on the day and pay when you board. However, if you have a group of 10 people or more, it is a good idea to phone or email Christos first so that he can reserve space for you or possibly offer you one of his other boats to meet your transport needs.
Ticket Price: €7.50 each way per person.
Please note that from Hydra you can only buy a one-way ticket to Ermioni when you board. If you want to return later in the day, or another day, you will have to buy your tickets, BEFORE you board from the Hellenic Seaways office in Ermioni.
You will find the Christos moored up in Hydra Harbour off the sea wall opposite the Cathedral Clock Tower. The times of the sailings are published on the back of the boat. In the summer months, there are more sailings.
Ermioni - Hydra
So if you intend returning to Hydra on Christos, I recommend that the first thing you do when you get to Ermioni is to visit the Hellenic ticket office before you do anything else. There is nothing worse than running down the jetty at the last minute and then remembering you haven't got your return tickets because the Christos can't let you on board without them!
The Hellenic Seaways office is in the square to the right at the end of the jetty where you disembark/embark. See the photos below. When you go in to buy your tickets, MAKE SURE you ask for the CHRISTOS so they don't accidentally sell you a ticket for the flying dolphin or cat service!
The Christos is a spacious speedboat with a covered deck, an inside passenger cabin and open upper deck so you have a choice of where to sit depending upon the weather and your preference to be in sun or shade.
For all information, please stop by and inquire when you see the Christos moored in Hydra Harbour. Any member of the team will be able to help you.

If you want to reserve for a larger group, more than 10, or you have a general enquiry then it is best to phone Christos. He speaks English but as with anyone working in a second language, please remember to speak slowly and clearly.
Christos runs the largest fleet of vessels from Hydra, including day trip boats, transport boats and sea taxis. If you need transport, he is the man to speak to for sea travel. As Christos and his team are out at sea most of the time, they cannot respond immediately to emails, so please use the form below for advanced bookings or enquiries but phone if you need on the day or the day after information.
Ermioni is a popular day trip destination with local residents as well as visitors. This small seaside village has a range of shops and suppliers that can't be found on Hydra. The beaches around Ermioni are sandy and there are some interesting walks to be had as well as some pretty tavernas and restaurants, especially in the old harbour. The Christos moors up in the 'new' harbour off the same jetty as the Hellenic Hydrofoils.
Throughout the year, Thursdays are Market Days next to the new harbour in Ermioni. The market pops up for the day with stalls selling a range of local produce including fruit & vegetables, nuts & sundried fruit, fish, plants and inexpensive clothing & household goods. It's a fun way to shop and is very popular with Hydriots, so if you want to travel to Ermioni on a Thursday, especially during the summer when it's busier, you really need to arrive 30 minutes before the departure time to ensure a place on the Christos. The market starts at 07:00 and is finished by 13:00 so you can shop in the morning, then have lunch locally before returning to Hydra on the last boat. (Just make sure you remember to buy your return ticket at the start of the day!)
The service offered by the Christos Passenger Ferry is particularly good for visitors who prefer to drive themselves from the airport (or across Europe), or even take a taxi because the Christos has regular DAILY crossings between Ermioni and Hydra. Hellenic Seaways don't have this timetable. So whatever day you can rely on being able to get across the water during daylight hours on the 'Christos'.
